September 16, 2016 - The United Brotherhood of Carpenters, one of North America’s largest builder-trade unions, congratulated WBF’s first graduating class of Carpenter/Scaffolders. The union’s Sisters in the Brotherhood from the Alberta region announced the new alumni on their website. Read More

August 18, 2016 - Women Building Futures has been included in a Journal of Commerce article  along with NWR and the Ironworkers Local 720, about how WBF and the union have trained 11 female Ironworkers to work at the North West Redwater Refinery. Click here to read the full article. 

June 13, 2016 - Women Building Futures has been included in a Huffington Post article along with LIFT Philanthropy, about how women in the trades could close the labour shortage in Canada. Click here to read the full article. 

May 19, 2016 - Women Building Futures' first class from the Ironworker Readiness Program graduated in May. All 11 women were recruited to join NWR Refinery as apprentice ironworkers. At the graduation, some of these successful grads shared their stories with news crews.

February 26, 2016 - Edmonton AB — Women Building Futures (WBF), Alberta’s premier trades training organization for women, is pleased to welcome TransCanada as a new partner in the WBF Opportunities for Women in Construction Awareness Campaign (OFWIC). WBF has been running the OFWIC campaign since 2007, the only sustained awareness program of its kind in Western Canada. Click here to read the press release.

January 7, 2016 - Edmonton AB—Women Building Futures (WBF) is pleased to announce a new partnership with Borger Group, Lehigh Hanson and O’Hanlon Paving (The Fath Group) to train women as entry-level operators with potential employment opportunities with their companies.
